The whole body of Crested macaque is covered with black hair, and the hair on the head stands upright like a comb. Show your teeth and make a smile-like expression to show that you are not hostile. Sometimes the photos taken by Crested macaque were controversial over copyright issues. It is sometimes eaten as a delicacy locally, and its population is rapidly decreasing.

全身が黒い毛でおおわれ、頭の髪はとさかのように逆立っている。歯を見せて笑顔のような表情を作り敵意がないことを示す。クロザルが自撮りした写真が著作権問題で物議をかもしたこともあった。
現地では珍味として食用にされることがあり急速に数を減らしている。
